Delancey Tennis Club - 2000 Awards - Press Release

43 members and guests attended the Delancey Tennis Club annual Christmas Dinner/ Dance and Awards Evening which took place recently at the Bella Luce Hotel.

The Club Captain, Bernard Halverson-Carr presented the Trophies and took the opportunity to thank his hard-working Committee and Club members for their work, in what was a relatively successful year for the Club.

9 new members have joined this year and the Club has put a lot of work into the proposed new courts project, working in conjunction with the States of Guernsey Recreation Committee, the Delancey Working Party, St. Sampson's Douzaine and the Lawn Tennis Association.

The new proposals, which would have seen new courts built in the centre of Delancey Park, have been subject to a considerable amount of speculation recently and negotiations are continuing with the Recreation Committee on this matter.

Delancey Tennis Club has compiled a blue-print for the future development of the Club and its members. All of this is currently on hold pending the outcome of the siting of the courts in the future.

The Club allegedly has now got the first Tennis Club web-site in the Channel Islands up and running: www.delanceytennisclub.org.gg

A lot of thought and effort has gone into the compilation and maintenance of the site and the Club are extremely grateful to new member, Barry Bridel for this.
